At SCBA, our mission has always been rooted in helping young people in the South Coast become their best selves. We believe that every kid deserves a chance; not just to get by, but to thrive. The Boys & Girls Club of New Bedford is one of the organizations that does just that, and that’s why we support them wholeheartedly.
When you visit the Club, what you see is more than after-school care. It’s a place where youth receive mentorship, academic support, and a wide variety of programs in sports, arts, leadership, and character development. Their staff are trained professionals who work with young people every day to build confidence, encourage responsibility, and foster caring relationships.
One of the things we at SCBA admire most about the Boys & Girls Club is their mission: “To enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” It’s a mission that echoes our own values: empowerment, access, and lifting up youth whose circumstances might otherwise limit their options.
We also know the Club offers a safe place. In a world with many distractions and challenges, having a consistent, supportive environment matters hugely. The Club becomes an engaging space for kids, especially during after-school hours, summer, and during times when supervision and mentorship are most needed.
SCBA’s support isn’t just financial. It’s about partnership. Our giving helps the Club maintain key parts of its programming: art, sports, academic help, leadership chances, and opportunities for young people to explore what they’re passionate about but might not have access to otherwise. We know that by supporting these programs, we help build stronger individuals and in turn, stronger communities across the South Coast.
Supporting the Boys & Girls Club of New Bedford is a natural fit for SCBA. Their work aligns with everything we stand for equity, opportunity, character, and hope. And our community is stronger because of it.
