The Cinco de Mayo Golf Classic is one of SCBA’s premier annual fundraising events and serves as a cornerstone of our mission to support youth development in the South Coast. As one of the first golf outings of the year, it brings together local business leaders, community members, and supporters for a day of fun, networking, and meaningful impact.

Each year, proceeds from the Cinco de Mayo Golf Classic directly fund SCBA’s youth-focused programs, including scholarships, after-school initiatives, and community support efforts. The event features an 18-hole scramble format, prizes, and a post-tournament celebration — creating an atmosphere that combines competition with camaraderie.

The Cinco de Mayo Golf Classic is more than just a fundraiser — it’s a platform for building connections and strengthening the network of support for young people in the South Coast. New Bedford Oktoberfest
The New Bedford Oktoberfest is SCBA’s flagship annual fundraising event and the largest gathering of its kind in the South Coast. Hosted on the New Bedford waterfront, this event attracts over 1,000 attendees each year and serves as a major driver of funding for SCBA’s youth-focused programs and community support initiatives.

Oktoberfest features a wide selection of craft and traditional beers, local food vendors, and live music — creating an energetic and welcoming atmosphere. The event provides an opportunity for the community to come together, celebrate local culture, and give back to a meaningful cause.

More than just a night of great food, drinks, and music, Oktoberfest is a key pillar of SCBA’s mission. Proceeds from the event directly fund scholarships, after-school programs, and career development opportunities for young people in the South Coast. By bringing together local businesses, professionals, and the broader community, Oktoberfest strengthens SCBA’s network of support and helps create lasting opportunities for the next generation.

How we measure success

We measure the success of our signature events through a combination of financial impact and community engagement metrics, including:

  • Total Funds Raised – Tracking the total amount raised from our signature events each year and reinvested directly into youth programs and scholarships.
  • Event Attendance – Measuring the number of attendees at each event and tracking year-over-year growth to evaluate increased community participation and support.
  • Community Engagement – Measuring the number of local businesses, vendors, and sponsors involved in each event to assess the depth and strength of community partnerships.
  • Direct Program Impact – Tracking how funds raised from our signature events are allocated to scholarships, after-school programs, and career development opportunities.
