Kenzi is a recent graduate of the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth where she obtained a BA in Political Science. Throughout her time in grad school , she changed her trajectory towards a career in health and wellness based off her advocacy work in holistic and mental health. She is now working pursuing her doctorate in nursing practice to launch a career as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. With her background in politics, she imagines herself continuing to share her knowledge to support health care public policy reform.

Currently as a holistic wellness practitioner, she achieves her goals by creating a safe and calm space for clients to explore all areas of their wellbeing to understand and identify the client’s issues and goals from a holistic and spiritual perspective. She aligns her passion and purpose for helping her clients achieve optimal wellbeing through spiritual advisement, reiki healing, meditation, and education in crystal healing properties, aromatherapy, and medicinal herbs.

While she chose to pursue a career in the medical field, she is a strong advocate of the performing arts as it is my passion. When not leading meditations and workshops at Strawberry Moon, she can be found in the classroom at New Bedford Performing Arts Center teaching musical theatre, voice, and dance.

Marc Frey

Marc Frey

Executive Board Member

Marc Frey is the definition of an entrepreneur. Marc is a go-getter. He has a keen sense of recognizing opportunities as they arise. He is not afraid of failure or the “what ifs” or not having all the right resources; instead, he makes the most out of what he has and thrives with it. His determination and his brilliance have proven he has a gift for multitasking while still being a genuinely good human. He has worked hard over the years to build up solid connections and strong relationships, and they have always supported him.

Marc Frey has been a resident of New Bedford almost all his life. He is 34 years old and married to Chelsey. Together, they share two beautiful children. He is the son of Mike Frey and Lisbeth Frey-Desrosiers, both of whom taught at GNBVT for many years. Marc is an Electrical Technology graduate from the class of 2009. This education sparked his dream of owning his own business. He started his apprenticeship by working for a bigger electrical company. This gave him valuable experience and connections. Once he got his journeyman license, the itch to start his own business grew stronger, and he jumped at the opportunity. And just like that, MAK Electric was born.

MAK Electric has been in operation since 2014 and just recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary. The company has been voted “Best Electrical Contractor of the Southcoast” two years in a row. This speaks volumes about the company and Marc, its founder. Marc’s work ethic goes beyond just wanting to meet his own expectations; he wants to exceed them, no matter how big or how small. His passion for the company is reflected in the time and effort he puts in, and this example also sets the tone for his employees. The MAK team is basically family, and Marc provides all the best equipment, training, medical care, retirement options, and so much more to make sure the team is always well taken care of. Marc is proud of the team that he has built and the people he and his management have mentored.

Marc is also the owner of MILO Excavation. MILO is pronounced (Mee-Low), named after his children Mia and Leo. He started the excavation company in February of 2024 and has had continuous work and success since. He is performing various aspects of site work, including digging foundations of all sizes and utility excavation, and has even dabbled in the landscape and hardscape aspects of the business. The vision for MILO is to start these projects from quite literally the ground up and be able to finish with the lights being turned on when MAK completes the electrical portion.

Frey Real Estate is also another venture of his. Marc likes to invest in properties, whether to keep for himself or to flip and sell. He has an eye for what could be a good investment and runs with it. This company is more family-operated; he and his wife team up looking for listings and then bring those visions to reality.

Aside from being such a driven person, Marc is a generous human and is always giving back to his community or helping someone in some way. He is on several boards and participates in several community groups in what little free time he has. People who know him are always saying, “I don’t know how he does it all.”

Marc serves as the chairman on the Advisory Board for the Electrical Technology program at GNBVT. This board helps the Electrical Technology program stay current with industry standards in the classroom setting and out in the field. It allows communication for grants, new programs, new tools, and new co-op opportunities. Marc also has been a sponsor of the co-op program with MAK Electric for the past eight years, taking on students and teaching them the electrical trade.

Marc is also on the board of the New Bedford’s Master Electrician Association. This is a group that meets to discuss general updates to industry standards. It provides members with the opportunity to discuss current issues and share their experiences, knowledge, and ideas with other professionals to strengthen the electrical industry.

Marc is a member of the South Coast Business Alliance. This alliance is an elite non-profit
organization that invests in the disadvantaged and at-risk youth of south coast region. One of their well-known fundraisers is the Oktoberfest that is held in New Bedford each fall. That being just one of hundreds of events and sponsorships this program and Marc participates in.

Marc has a soft spot in his heart for businesses and charities. He is always willing to go the extra mile to help something grow. There is so much that this world has to offer, and Marc sees it all. He builds strong companies, builds strong competent teams, and builds great futures for anyone around him. He is a natural leader and mentor.
